"I have an idea! Let's capture the entire sports audience for two weeks and not promote the upcoming F1 and Indycar seasons!"

What's F1 and Indy car?
Aren't those the same thing?

They keep making comparisons to F1 cars and Indy cars.

I've recorded many hours of Olympics (and have many, many hours to watch), and there have been a smattering of F1 ads. It's hard to be sure since I skip most of the commercials. Really, it's the only way to watch the Olympics. I mostly watch the live feeds from overnight, and they've been appearing (sparingly) there. Probably not at all in primetime.

I was happy to see the ad with Nico Rosberg winning at Monaco, until it ended after only about 15 seconds with no specific mention of F1 programming. It was really just a general ad for nbc.

That's just NBC's modus operandi: "I have an idea! Let's cancel that quirky sitcom that has a small but loyal fan base that, if we promoted it properly, could grow to support it through six seasons and a movie and could potentially become a cultural touchstone for not one, but multiple generations, and let's replace its time slot with a cheap to produce reality show that'll probably fizzle out and get canceled halfway through its first season."
In other words, they copied the front page out of Fox's play book.
